Netflix Socks

Netflix fans are so committed to their favorite shows, that they end up dealing with all kinds of new problems unique to the platform – such as losing their spots when they watch themselves to sleep. To help Netflix reinforce its position as industry innovators, we developed Netflix Socks to put viewers back in control of how they enjoy their entertainment. Using an accelerometer to detect when a viewer has dozed off, the Socks send a signal to the user’s TV to pause their show. This project spread like wildfire across social media and press outlets, and are available as DIY instructions on the Make It website. Within days the project spread virally with no paid media ending up everywhere from GMA to Refinery29 to Adweek and everything inbetween.
